چکیده

We present the first lensing mass measurements of Sunyaev-Zel’dovich (SZ) selected clusters. Using optical imaging from the Southern Cosmology Survey (SCS), we present weak lensing masses for three clusters selected by their SZ emission in the South Pole Telescope survey (SPT). Curiously, we find one additional 2.5σ peak in the lensing maps which seems to coincide with a low significance peak in the published SZ maps. We also study 38 optically-selected clusters in ≃ 8 square degrees of the SCS survey. We fit Navarro, Frenk and White (NFW) profiles, and find that the SZ clusters have amongst the largest masses, as high as 5×10M⊙. Using the best fit masses for all the clusters, we analytically calculate the expected SZ integrated Y parameter for comparison with the SPT observations. First lensing measurements of SZ-detected clusters

We confirm that the SZ selection procedure is successful in detecting mass concentrations. We also study 38 optically-...

The Atacama Cosmology Telescope: Sunyaev-Zel'Dovich Selected Galaxy Clusters at 148 Ghz in the 2008 Survey

We report on 23 clusters detected blindly as Sunyaev–Zel’dovich (SZ) decrements in a 148 GHz, 455 deg2 map of the southern sky made with data from the Atacama Cosmology Telescope 2008 observing season. All SZ detections announced in this work have confirmed optical counterparts. Ten of the clusters are new discoveries. One newly discovered cluster, ACT-CL J0102−4915, with a redshift of 0.75 (ph...

The Atacama Cosmology Telescope: Detection of Sunyaev-Zel'Dovich Decrement in Groups and Clusters Associated with Luminous Red Galaxies

We present a detection of the Sunyaev–Zel’dovich (SZ) decrement associated with the luminous red galaxy (LRG) sample of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. The SZ data come from 148 GHz maps of the equatorial region made by the Atacama Cosmology Telescope. The LRG sample is divided by luminosity into four bins, and estimates for the central SZ temperature decrement are calculated through a stacking p...

Cosmology from Cluster Sz and Weak Lensing Data

Weak gravitational lensing and the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich effect provide complementary information on the composition of clusters of galaxies. Preliminary results from cluster SZ observations with the Very Small Array are presented. A Bayesian approach to combining this data with wide field lensing data is then outlined; this allows the relative probabilities of cluster models of varying complexity...

Cosmology with Galaxy Clusters II. Projection Effects on Hubble Constant and Gas Mass Fraction

It is well known that a combined analysis of the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich (SZ) effect and the X-ray emission observations can be used to determine the angular diameter distance to galaxy clusters, from which the Hubble constant is derived. The present values of the Hubble constant derived through the SZ/X-ray route have a broad distribution ranging from 30 to 70 km s−1 Mpc−1. We show that this broad ...
